Qualitative Neighbouring - QUEST Conversation part 1
If I walk out my front door and turn down the sidewalk in either direction, or if I cross the street, there are neighbours that I know by name. I can name a handful of people within a couple blocks of where I live.
If you live in a high-rise condo or an apartment complex, there may be a few people that you can name in your building or at a favourite café on street level.
And if you are like me, I can’t say that we spend time in each other’s home. I don’t know much about their lives beyond the small talk. But what if I took the words of Jesus seriously to love my neighbour as myself? Could I live on my street in a way that is set apart from the privatized isolation that we may be prone to? Could I live with my neighbours in a way that opens the door to an incarnation of the presence of Jesus?
In this first QUEST conversation, we are looking at the letter Q which stands for Qualitative Neighbouring.
There are pockets of Christians across Canada cities that view life in the neighbourhood as a sacred calling.
On today’s episode, you are going to meet three people I respect and admire for their commitment to live intentionally within their postal code.
Karen lives in a beautiful house in Vancouver.
Bob Cameron lives on my street in Windsor, Ontario and is the founder and visionary of the Downtown Windsor Community Collaborative.
And returning podcast guest Paula Castrucci shares from her time of intentional community with Move In Toronto.
And I am Mister Rogers. Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbour?
